Do I need to have wifi to use GripAble?

You need to be connected to wifi in order to get started with GripAble. Once set up, training can be carried out without wifi, which can be useful where the internet connection is unreliable.

You can use any alcohol-based wipe to clean the device. Alternatively, use soap on a damp piece of dressing gauze / J-cloth or equivalent. The device is splashproof but not waterproof so you should not immerse it in water.

Product
What is the difference between GripAble Pro and GripAble Home?

GripAble Pro is designed for therapists working with multiple people on their hand and upper limb training and assessment. It provides multiple logins, goal setting and more detailed assessments.

GripAble Home is for individual home users and has a single user login. GripAble Home has all the activities and daily activity reports you will find on GripAble Pro and also allows you to share these activity reports with your therapist.

Please note that you must be aged 18 years or older to set up a GripAble account. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under 18, then you may create an account and allow your child to use GripAble under your direct supervision. Our terms and conditions explain more here.

Can I use GripAble with my own tablet or smartphone device?

At present, GripAble is supplied with a high-performance tablet with the software and app pre-loaded.

Does GripAble support multiple users?

GripAble Pro offers multiple therapist logins and unlimited patient profiles. GripAble Home is a single user login.

Am I eligible for a trial?

We are able to offer GripAble on a ‘try before you buy’ basis to enable you to get a feel for the device and understand how it can support you. Please contact [email protected] or fill in the form on our contact page to enquire about a trial.

How do I know if GripAble will be suitable for me?

The device can be used by the majority of individuals with impaired upper limb movement but we always recommend assessment by a therapist at the outset.  If you don’t have a therapist, our clinical team can put you in touch with a therapist who can assess you and identify if you can use GripAble.

What hand and wrist movements does GripAble assess and train?

GripAble assesses:

  • Grip strength
  • Release of grip
  • Wrist extension and flexion
  • Wrist radial and ulnar deviation
  • Pronation and supination
Can GripAble be used by someone with very limited hand movement?

GripAble is sensitive to 0.1kg which enables flickers of movement to be detected. Users have reported that GripAble has shown they have movement where they thought they had none. The minimum and maximum strengths recordable are 0.3kg to 90kg.
